Kermit the Frog: What? You kidnap Jack Black? That’s illegal!
Fozzie Bear: What’s more illegal, Kermit: briefly inconveniencing Jack Black, or destroying the Muppets?
Kermit the Frog: Kidnapping Jack Black, Fozzie!
Jim Henson - September 24, 1936 – May 16, 1990
As a child of the 80’s, Jim Henson was a constant in my life during those crucial, formative years. I woke up with Sesame Street every morning and I went to bed with The Muppet Shows every night. There isn’t a way of quantitatively measuring just how important the characters he brought to life were to the adult I turned into but I would venture to say that he played a notable role in it. Watching my niece become obsessed with The Muppets over the past few months (thanks Jason Segel for bringing it back), I realized that while the man may be gone and gone from us going on twenty plus years, his legacy will live on in immeasurable ways for a long time to come. Singing “The Rainbow Connection” with my niece means more to me than I can ever state in words so thank you, Jim Henson. Thank you.
